We got word today that the SDA has refused to give approval for our court hearing until after the Ukrainian holidays are over. Therefore, we are making arrangements to come home. Nancy and I will have to return again at a later date for court. Many American families over here are in the same situation.
We stopped by Orphanage #4 today to say goodbye to Sergey.
Exactly one month ago today we arrived in Odessa. Thanks for following along so far. Unless something changes, this will be the last post for awhile. Peace.

Oh. I am so sorry to hear about your set back. It would have been so nice to have the court date before the holidays. I am hoping that everything is settled in a timely manner so you can return and get your two beautiful children home. At least Sergey and Valya know they have a family fighting to bring them home. It should be a joyous holiday for them.
So sorry about the delay! Praying a safe journey and for peace for all! Happy New Year (in case I forget to come back before then!) God Bless!
Wow! This is really strange that the courts don't seem to be cooperating right now. So many of you are not able to go to court. I'm so sorry to hear this! Please keep us informed of when you are going back. Maybe we can send some gifts with you if you have the room in your luggage. :-)
I'll continue to pray fo you all. So close!
How horrible. You have them in your hands but aren't able to get them home. My thoughts are with you.
We will talk to you when you get home! Val
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about the delay. We are praying that your return to SD is a safe one. And, that you'll be bringing all of your children home...soon!
Love you all and prayers continue to be lifted for all of you!
Your cousin Jan
Just want to pass along our prayers for your safe return and renewed strength. Your words of encouragement and prayers kept us going and we hope that we can do the same for you. May the Lord give you refreshment and the wish of your hearts! Happy New Year!

Praying for a safe trip home. It has been wonderful following along with you and I can't wait to follow again on the journey back that brings your children home. :)
You are in our prayers daily, and usually much more often. This is a battle but we KNOW who wins!
Traveling mercies to you and your family. We are only now beginning to find out how many of our struggles while in Ukraine are being seen by our girls as our acting out our love to them. May God turn these disappointments to good for you and your children.

PS I know that sounds pretty preachy but when we were the lowest those words were great comfort and continue to be as we face new challenges at home. God does win!
You are in our prayers! I know this is disappointing. We look forward to seeing you in January.
So sorry the system is not working smoothly. Not a bit of surprise here, but we were praying it would move along a little less painfully for you. Thank you for keeping us posted on your journey. We look forward to watching God make the rough places smooth in January.
We have been following your journey the last month and been praying, laughing and crying along with you. Lienna keeps me posted when I'm not reading. How awsome to watch God work through your journey. Safe travels home and blessings as you continue to work through the paperwork.

Sorry to hear you have to wait for a court date. That is the bad thing about being there this time of year. We had to wait for 5 weeks at this same time last year because of the holidays. We stayed in Ukraine waiting, though. You will probably get rested going home for a while. It is extremely tiring to just wait around in Ukraine while nothing can be done. Then, I'm sure you already know that;)
Have a safe trip, home and back!

I'm so sorry about the delay. I know how difficult it can be to wait. We ended up not going to Odessa to meet Maddie until Dec. 21st last year and since we knew we wouldn't get a court date before the holidays, we decided to come home and wait it out...thinking it would be at least a month.
We found out the day after we arrived home that our court date was Jan. 10th. I would expect once you get home you'll find out your date pretty quickly and time will fly. We'll be praying for a safe journey home.
Isaiah 66:7-9a
Before she travailed, she brought forth; Before her pain came, she gave birth to a boy. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? ... Shall I bring to the point of birh and not give delivery? says the Lord.
I know God did not bring you this far to not bring His plan to pass. May your hope and faith be renewed.
Just checking in to see how your wait is going. Praying for you all.
