On Ukraine's National Adoption Day, a new statistic has been released by the government, stating that 12 children are adopted every day, 7 by Ukrainians and 5 by foreigners.

I sort of doubt that this statistic is accurate. I don't want to be disrespectful of the UA government, but I'm suspicious of it because it favors the nationals. From what I understand, adoption is largely misunderstood and taboo there.
ReplyDeleteI hope/pray that the numbers ar correct and that they will continue to rise.
ReplyDeleteI pray we become a statistic very soon! :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I "accidently" came across your blog today. We also adopted 2 children from Ukraine last winter and arrived home on February 15. Our new daughters are 11 and 12 (they each had a birthday this summer) and are biological sisters. they are from the donetsk region. we are thrilled the Lord led us to these sweet girls a year ago last summer (we met them through an orphan hosting program - frontier horizons to be exact, and through a mutual friend of the host family and us we met the girls and decided to adopt them. they join our 3 other children who are currently 12, 10 and 8 this month. The Lord is good! Some friends of ours are leaving for Kiev on the 13th of this month to adopt 2 of our girls friends (not related) after i put out a prayer request for someone to adopt them. if you are intersted I can send you their blog info and you can follow their journey too! welcome to the adoption family!

Hi Alan,
ReplyDeleteI talked to you on the phone awhile ago to help me out with my powerpoint. I'm finally opening my blog up to the public, I guess my family would still fall under the "hosting" category if you would like to add a link to it! Hope you and the kids are doing well! Thanks!
